Let’s talk winter! In the summer we love making our own Sangria but in the winter we love mulled wine.  This recipe calls for cloves and cinnamon but feel free to add star of anise for a pop of a specific flavor.  I am not a huge fan of overpowering the wine with spices so we err on the side of caution when it comes to spices but I love the orange and sweetness.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Using a peeler, peel strips of orange and then juice it.
  2. In a pan large enough to hold a bottle of wine add the juice of the orange, peels, sugar, cloves, cinnamon stick, and heat until sugar dissolves stirring constantly.
  3. Add the wine and heat until just warm. If it comes to a boil you will burn all the alcohol off.
  4. Using a strainer strain the mulled wine into glasses and serve!
